When I first started my essential oil journey, I was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of companies out there that make essential oils (all of which touted their oils as the best quality) and I didn’t know who to trust! Some companies had vastly different prices than others, some companies made you sign up for memberships, and almost every company had some reason that they were the best and everyone else was subpar.

So, being the nerd that I am, I began researching!

The first two essential oil companies that come up in a google search are Young Living and Doterra. I pretty much immediately ruled them out because they’re MLM companies that require you to have a membership, hike up their costs in order to pay their distributors, and oftentimes their distributors encourage unsafe practices that get you to use up the oils faster so you’ll need to buy more sooner. I don’t have anything against the oils themselves, or really even the distributors (as I think they are fed dangerous information and pass it on because they trust the source and honestly think it’s true), but I definitely knew that those were NOT the companies for me.

Then there are some smaller, but still popular companies like Mountain Rose Herbs, Rocky Mountain Oils, Eden’s Garden, Aura Cacia, NOW Foods, etc. I’ve used oils from the last two companies from before I discovered Plant Therapy and they are nice oils (and convenient since they’re available at Whole Foods!). But I didn’t find that any of these companies specifically resonated with me.

I don’t remember how I first stumbled upon Plant Therapy, but I have a feeling it was on Instagram. I immediately loved their vibe, their non-MLM-ness, and the more I learned the more I loved them. Scroll down to learn why I love PT and you should too!

I love Plant Therapy essential oils because they are pure, natural, and affordable! They even have a special Kidsafe line, so you can feel good about use essential oils for your whole family. They are one of the many tools in my holistic health and wellness toolbox!

Why I Love Plant Therapy

Plant Therapy is a company that I love because they truly care about their customers so much. As Chris Jones, one of the co-founders of the company, says:

“Our ultimate goal is not the be the largest essential oil company; it is to positively impact the lives of as many people as humanly possible. Ultimately, I feel this is possible only by providing our customers with an exceptional experience that keeps them coming back. By selling such high quality products at such an affordable price, we not only positively affect the lives of our customers, it also gives us the financial means by which we can help those who are less fortunate to live a happier, healthier, and more productive life.”

Here’s how they fulfill that promise:

The oils:

  • Are 100% pure & natural
  • Are well tested for quality
    • Every time an oil is purchased from a new supplier, 3-5 samples from the batch are tested, and when buying from the same supplier, the new batch is also tested.
    • Every batch of oil is first tested organoleptically by Robert Tisserand, then sent to 3rd party labs to undergo Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (GS/MS) testing.
    • You can find the batch code on each bottle of PT essential oils, and then view that specific batch’s GC/MS report online! I LOVE transparency!
  • Are less expensive than oils from MLM companies because there is no middle-man (distributor) that needs to be paid – but the oils are the same or better quality!

The company:

  • Is a family owned business out of of Idaho (they actually have a storefront there if you’re local!).
  • Has certified aromatherapists on staff – and they are super helpful when you e-mail them questions!
  • Works with world-renowned essential oil educator Robert Tisserand of the Tisserand Institute.
  • Promotes the safe usage of essential oils (i.e. no ingesting, no applying neat, etc. – learn more about the do’s and don’ts of essential oils here!).
  • Offers free shipping and returns in the US – and the shipping is fast! Most customers find that their orders come before UPS predicted they would.
  • Has INCREDIBLE customer service – if something has broken in the mail, they’ll get you a new one right away! They’ve even been known to send specific stickers that customers have requested (did I mention you get an adorable eo-related sticker with every purchase!? YES PLEASE!).

  • Roller bottles are the easiest way to apply oils to the skin – just put a few drops of the oils you want in the bottle, fill to the top with a carrier oil, and roll away!
  • Inhalers are the easiest way to get the benefits of inhaling essential oils on the go! You simply put a few drops of essential oils on a cotton wick and keep it contained in the inhaler, then unscrew the top and take a few sniffs.
