I was talking to some friends recently about taking baths (one of my favorite activities) and was shocked to find out some of them don’t enjoy them!
Maybe its my cancer zodiac sign talking, but I find water so relaxing. If I can’t be floating in the ocean, then a nice bath is the next best thing. Especially when it’s loaded up with Epsom salts and other yummy things. When I take a bath it’s not just about the water – it’s about the whole experience!
I’ve been taking baths more than ever during the pandemic, especially now that it’s getting colder out. Honestly, I’ve been taking them most days recently! So I’ve gotten really good at making them as relaxing as possible.
Now, you don’t need any of the fancy stuff below to have an awesome bath experience, but none of it hurts! You can pick and choose what you think you’d enjoy.

Ingredients:
Epsom salt
This is essential to all of my baths! It is super high in magnesium, which makes it great for soaking sore muscles, reducing swelling, and helping you sleep.
Bath bomb
These are a fun way to add some scent and extra ingredients to your bath. I love the Level Naturals ones – they release some oils into the water and make the bath super moisturizing. I also enjoy making my own DIY bath bombs, which you can customize with different oils.
Bubble bath
Nothing says luxurious like a bath full of bubbles. I LOVE the Everyday Shea One – a little goes a long way! It includes shea butter as an ingredient, so it also helps moisturize.
Tub tray
A tray is great if you’re going to be bringing thinks like drinks, snacks, candles, or books into your bath. It makes it super convenient to reach everything!
Tub pillow
If you’re planning to take a longer bath, a you’re really going to want a pillow. This one sticks to the side of the tub with suction cups and supports your neck and back.
Overflow Drain Stopper
Ok, this one is a game changer. If you’ve ever sunk into a bath only to hear the dreaded sound of water getting sucked down the overflow drain, you need this product!
It even fits over the lever on my drain that I have to toggle on and off to close off the main drain or unplug it. The only downside is that you do have to be careful not to overflow your tub if you use this!
Candle(s)
I love burning candles to create ambiance and release relaxing scents. I like P.F. Candle Co for non-toxic soy candles, but I’ve also recently gotten into making my own! The DIY recipe is in this blog post:
Book/waterproof Kindle
I love to spend my time in the bath reading. You may just want to soak and maybe listen to some music, but if you want to read, I can’t recommend the Kindle paperwhite enough! It is waterproof, so you can bring it into the bath without worrying about splashing water onto it.

Instructions:
- You definitely want to start with hot water because it will gradually cool down while you soak, but you don’t want it so hot that it’s uncomfortable. Don’t be afraid to sweat in your bath!
- Add your epsom salt first to give the plenty of time to dissolve.
- Then put in your bath bomb if you’re using one. Take a second to watch it fizz – it’s mesmerizing.
- Finally, pour in a bit of bubble bath.
- Affix your pillow to the back of the tub, lay out your tub tray, and fill it with your candle, drink, and book.
- ENJOY!
I often like to follow my bath with a nice skincare routine. The heat and humidity opens up your pores, so it’s the perfect time to do a face mask! I’m currently loving Cocokind‘s sea kale clay mask. I usually follow it up with a gua sha facial massage with facial oil (currently using Herbivore Botanicals’ Emerald Oil with CBD).
Now I have to know: do you enjoy baths? I feel like people either love the or hate them!
